Julie Baines

Julie Baines has been producing independent cinema for 30 years through her company, Dan Films.

Highly regarded for her British productions as well as many international co-productions, her projects span all genres and budget levels, from period biopic THE CAT’S MEOW directed by Peter Bogdanovich and starring Kirsten Dunst, to Christopher Smith’s London set horror film CREEP. She produced the debut feature of Director Michael Winterbottom, Writer Frank Cottrell-Boyce, and Cinematographer Seamus McGarvey, BUTTERFLY KISS, and the final film by the late Nicolas Roeg, PUFFBALL, adapted from the novel by Fay Weldon.

At the other end of the spectrum, she produced FOUR KIDS AND IT, inspired by Jacqueline Wilson’s ‘Four Children and It’, for a family audience. It was released internationally and was the biggest Sky Original family movie of 2020.

Julie has a diverse taste in cinema, she is very much story and script led and enjoys working with emerging as well as experienced filmmakers. She regularly mentors new Producers, Directors and Writers and guest lectures on various courses, working closely in particular with the UK’s acclaimed National Film and Television School (NFTS). She is Co-Chair of the PACT Film Producers Group, the industry body that represents UK producers, is a member of PACT Council and is a Trustee of the East London arts charity Chisenhale Art Place.

Julie is a recipient of the prestigious Women in Film and Television Contribution to the Medium Award.

Her latest film, SOMETHING IN THE WATER, a survival shark thriller, is due for release in 2024 by Studiocanal.

Jonathan Taylor


After finishing University with a Master’s Degree in Screen Arts, Jonathan started his film career working for producers Norma Heyman and Richard Holmes.  Jonathan was then part of the development team at The Film Consortium where he worked on such films as The 51st State starring Samuel L Jackson and Michael Winterbottom’s 24 Hour Party People.

Now a Producer at Dan Films, Jonathan works closely with Julie Baines on a slate of projects.

He recently executive produced the survival shark thriller SOMETHING IN THE WATER for Studiocanal

Jonathan has produced award-winning shorts and regularly teaches contract negotiation and producing skills at various film schools including the National Film and Television School.
